A group of young professionals and scientists of the technological centre of Catalonia Eurecat have designed the prototype of a professional piano portable that fits in a backpack, it connects to the mobile and allows you to play music anywhere and share it.The drivers of this mini-piano, named “PocketPianno”, want to start marketing next year. The instrument will be presented in the first edition of the fair IoT Solutions World Congress, being held this week in Barcelona. The forecast of the drivers is to do an initial production of between 500 and 1,000 units of the instrument, with Technology of the Internet of Things (IoT) and which shall also have a bag specially designed to carry it.The instrument can be connected to the mobile phone to record performances, read music in real time or share parts, and is also equipped with headphones for listening to music in the form of immersive sound binaural.PocketPiano, which will be marketed with a box of 20 x 20 x 42 cm, unfolded has a dimensions of 16.4 inches wide and 131 cm long and will also have pedals. The piano “offers a unique solution to be able to play anywhere in an instrument of dimensions as large as would be a piano”, explains Josep Bergadà, one of the promoters of the project. The “PocketPiano” has managed to different recognitions in the world of tech entrepreneurship, among which figure the opportunity that it offered TechCrunch Disrupt that led them to make a presentation in Silicon Valley, San Francisco (USA).”it is Not a toy, but a professional piano. For this reason, we have invested many efforts in designing the sensors so as to be able to replicate the feel of a piano of wood from the percussion of each element,” says mr. Bergadà.The idea arose when Bergadà began to play the instrument, which led her to “the vital need” of being able to rehearse there where I am and found that having this option “it was a very difficult thing”.The project won the prize of the museum includes the creatic of the Tecnocampus two years ago and was a finalist of the prizes UPF Emprèn, as the past month of July PocketPiano was a finalist in the award Aijec for the best business initiative.
