Relatively recently, some Chinese residents were terrified of strange shapes that appeared in the sky. It was like a city was floating through the air.
An enigmatic giant city was appreciated by the inhabitants of Guangdong and Jiangxi, who also managed to make photographic captures, which reveal a kind of skyscrapers and large buildings that surround it. Viewers claim that the phenomenon could be seen for a few minutes and then faded.
End of the world, conspiracies or natural phenomenon?
These kinds of phenomena are the subject of many speculations that associate them with the end of the world or with conspiracy theories, but it has a very interesting scientific explanation.
It seems that the phenomenon is an optical illusion known as Fata Morgana, which is a mirage or optical illusion attributed to a temperature inversion. It occurs when solar energy causes the heating of an atmospheric layer, but leaving cold the lower layer that follows.
The Fata Morgana Effect
The Fata Morgana effect comes from the Italian language meaning fairy Morgana, alluding to Morgan Le Fay, the half-sister of King Arthur, who according to legend, was a changing fairy.
Because of this phenomenon, objects appear far from the horizon, such as cliffs, islands, icebergs, among other things, whose shape is elongated and floating in the clouds, such as a castle in the sky of magical tales.
Fata Morgana effects are more visible in the morning, after a cold night. This phenomenon is common in high mountain valleys, where the effect is accentuated by the curvature of the valley floor. This phenomenon has confused humanity for many centuries and is believed to be the most logical explanation for the famous ship called ‘The Wandering Dutchman’, which has been seen by many sailors around the world.
Similarly, some hypotheses suggest that these are military experiments with state-of-the-art holograms.
