Methods for purifying water

A simple and hand-friendly method of purifying water is to subject it to the boiling process, i.e. boil it. Clorification and ionic silver

Another very economical and fast technique is the use of chlorine for water purification, since this substance is actually very effective in killing those microorganisms that can seriously compromise our health. For this you should add between two or three drops per liter, depending on the concentration of chlorine you get.

After this, you should wait up to thirty minutes before consuming the water, so that the substance acts and also dissolves without leaving a trace to taste. However, we must not lose sight that in most cities the water that reaches homes has been previously treated with chlorine, so this method can result in an unpleasant taste, which although not harmful to health , it can be a bad experience for our palate.

You can also search stores for products prescribed to disinfect food and water, which are almost always compounds based on ionic or colloidal silver, which is highly efficient at eliminating bacteria and harmful microorganisms for our body. It is suggested to follow the instructions to add it to our water, which we shouldn´t consume until twenty minutes after we have added this substance to it.


Going a little further towards the practical we find the filters or ozone purifiers, which are expensive and use electrical energy for their operation, but allow us to have purified water at hand, at the push of a button. This method works on the basis of ozone gas which breaks down bacteria and microorganisms that can be fatal to us.

The advantage of this method is that the action of this gas provides us with a water free of bacteria, and at the same time without any chemical residue. At the same time the water supplied by this type of mechanism will be free of color, smell or taste. It is even much more effective than chlorine itself, as ozone can end up with viruses and microorganisms that cannot be destroyed only with the chlorination technique.

In the market we get several offers of ozone filters, which may seem in principle a bit expensive, but which in the long run become a great investment that will bring us great benefits.

Activated charcoal and ceramics

Another practical method that we can implement in our homes is the use of an activated carbon-based filter, within which is a charcoal stone filled with thousands of small holes in which microorganisms are trapped before the coal proceed to break their molecules and destroy them.

In truth, such a filter will provide your home with chlorine-free, odorless, flavorless and heavy solids-free water. The advantage is that it also serves to eliminate chemicals that may be harmful to health such as pesticides, which reach water sources through irrigation or rain.

However, this type of mechanism should be replaced periodically, buying a new one every five months.
