What The First World War consisted of

It was a bellicose event between various world powers, which originated on the European continent, exactly in 1914, whose fuse sparked a conflict on all continents of the Earth, especially because of the action of what began to be called United Nations.

It could have been something very planned just like the other wars

It was the first time a war was involved in volving extremely remote nations and was enough to transform the whole society, forever. Before World War II, it was not known as the First, but as “The Great War”. Only after the second global armed conflict was the numerical differentiation of wars required.

The First World War drew a very relevant parallel, between the period between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, a time when the world took a definitive turn in history and a rather particular social system was accentuated, in which in a few decades s has destroyed much of nature.

This first world conflagration began just after the period of colonization, where the continents were distributed to the major powers, but the ambition of some who sought to colonize territories that were already in the hands of other great nations, was triggering alliances between them and struggles with each other.

As these so-called powers evolved industrially, they saw the need for the exploitation of natural resources in other nations, which have already been colonized, they came into conflict with the new invaders. Thus, bloody episodes were unleashed everywhere in the globe: in Africa, in Europe, in America, Asia, etc., and these great countries were constantly changing sides.

At that time it was the unbridled rise of the United States, which was fighting Japan to take over the Pacific. On the other hand, one saw a Germany emerging, but with the frustration of not having been part of the great distributions of land in the world.

The powers were more divided, with the conflict between Germany and England, thus polarizing everyone. Both nations wanted to steal all the territories of South Africa and China. For example, the “Triple Alliance” was established: Germany, Austria and Hungary. First, the pact had also been born with Italy, but Italy soon stepped aside and went to another side. “The Triple Alliance” fought to the death against the “Triple Entente”, formed by Russia, France and England.

The Balkans set the fuse in Europe

Turkey and the terrible Austro-Hungarian empire were contested by the lands and dominance of the Balkan peninsula. These disputes set fire to the other European nations, for their different ambitious interests. Russia, despite being at the eastern end of the old continent, feeling unsuccessful in its attempts at expansion in previous years, decided to support Serbia in order to spread across the Mediterranean.

On the other hand, the Dardanelen Strait, a crucial point between Central Asia and the Mediterranean, was in the focus of the Germans, English and French. It was a battle of greedy interest on the side and side. So from the time it opened the twentieth century, until in the middle of the first decade, on June 28, 1914, in Sarajevo, war exploded in catastrophic and global proportions. Exactly, on August 5 of that year, the great war broke out.

It can be said that Serbia was one of the great protagonists, since it was a fanatical student of the nationalism of that country, who murdered nothing less than the heir of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Francisco Fernando and his wife. That empire, using that event, decided to declare war on Serbia. But because this nation was supported by Russia, Soviet troops did not wait and at the same time, the armies of triple alliances.

Strategies to influence people with nationalist sentiments had paid off. Millions of people from different backgrounds went to war, totally convinced that they were defending their “so beloved homeland,” but nothing was won by the people of the common in general, but death and destruction. Only the hidden interests that maneuvered behind the scenes both sides of the conflagration were favored.

The war ended four years later, but its aftermath transformed the world forever and led to the second war clash.
