How to create an animated GIF from a video in Android

The videos are very good, but sometimes you need an animated GIF of a lifetime: a shorter version of the video without sound and repeat without stopping. Despite the fact that Google Photos allows you to create animated GIF from photos, create from videos is not now possible.

Some manufacturers -like Samsung – which include the conversion of video to GIF in your editor, although the best and most universal is use specialized applications. We will use GIPHY Cam, probably the best app to create animated GIF with the cell, and that allows you to import them from a video.

1. Installed GIPHY Cam

There are two things you need: the video that you are going to use, and a specialized application. We recommend GIPHY Cam, although if it doesn’t convince you there are other alternatives in Google Play that you can consider, such as GFYCat Loops, GIFGuru or ImgPlay. GIPHY Cam has the advantage of including a multitude of effects and stickers ready-to-use and give you something more than grace the animated GIF output.

2. Matter video

GIPHY Cam opens input like that, a camera. However, it is possible to open the photos and videos that are in the gallery of the mobile. To do this you must tap on thumbnail that appears just below the preview of the camera. This is a preview of the last photo or video from your gallery.

Will then show all the photos and videos in your mobile, together. The difference is that the videos have a decoration imitating a reel, while the photos do not. is Touch in the video that you are interested in to begin editing.

3. Sets the length

Normally the animated GIF will last a few seconds instead of the entire duration of the video. On GIPHY Cam you can do the clipping using two adjusters, one to control the beginning of the animated GIF and the other to the end.

While you make the adjustments you are shown superimposed on the current duration of the clipping. In addition, the video plays in a loop showing only the selected part, so you can get an idea of the final result. When you are finished, tap the arrow icon.

4. Add effects and stickers (optional)

The nice thing about using GIPHY Cam is that you can add a lot of effects and stickers easily. Are all of them arranged in the bottom of the screen without much order or harmony, but by tapping on them you will see what each one does.

This is obviously optional. If you want to, you can simply tap on Next and generate your animated GIF immediately without adding anything extra to the video. However, to prove nothing happens, you’re sure to find something that improves the results.

5. Save the result

In the following screen simply press Save GIF, and the result will be saved in your mobile. If you want to share it inmedatamente with another application, you can do so using the share menu of Android.
