ARCore is still a unique feature for a few Android devices, but little by little they are coming new apps that leverage augmented reality. Yesterday I talked about Ikea Place, the app to be able to see how are the furniture before you buy, and today it is the turn of Just A Line, a curious app with which we can make drawings in the air.
Just To Line comes from an experiment of Google baptized ARCore Drawing that consists of a simple white line that we can articulate for the space. The project was presented as one of the Google Experiments and now comes in the form of a free app. Yes, only you’ll be able to download on a smartphone compatible with ARCore.
A-line that flows through the space
As we said, the premise of that part Just To Line is the most basic: drawing lines in three dimensions or, in other words, ‘in the air’. When we open the app we find the view of the camera and very few controls; at the top we have the button to clean the drawing and the access to the menu, while in the bottom we can choose the thickness of the brush, record a video or to undo the last stroke.
Drawing with Just A Line is as simple as clicking on the screen and start to move, because yes, tap to move to make designs more eye-catching. For example, we can add more leaves to a plant, create a door in the middle of nowhere or a never ending spiral as the beginning of the official video of the app.
With Just A Line, we can create short videos that both length and format are perfect for sharing on Stories of Instagram. yes, the app is extremely simple and only allows us to create a white line, it would be nice in the future to add more tools. Remember that mobile phones compatible with ARCore are Pixel, Pixel, XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S8, S8+, and Note 8, LG V30, OnePlus 5 and Asus Zenfone AR.
