Everyone likes to talk about phones that are leading the higher ranges of manufacturers, on all those who get innovate in a sector where it seems that everything has already been invented. But there are many other people who do not care how many cores has a processor or the amount of RAM your mobile, just want a smartphone that works well and is not too expensive .
This is the range in which the Chinese manufacturers are becoming stronger, and Zopo is one of them. Founded in 2012, year after year this manufacturer is evolving by leaps and bounds with some products increasingly competitive . The last one is the Speed 7 Plus, which straddles the midrange and high, is presented as an alternative to be taken into account by a few unexpected surprises
Speed Zopo 7 Plus, specifications
The Zopo Speed 7 Plus has good specifications that place it somewhere between the midrange and high. Maybe its commitment signed by MediaTek processor can take a few others back, but this is a negative feeling that is immediately diluted as we begin to try. Moreover, in the specification sheet we also find good arguments to arouse interest.

As you can see we are facing a mobile which focuses on a screen of 5.5 inches, almost a standard in modern times. Still trying this size not play against in terms of autonomy, why content with full HD resolution or why Zopo implements a removable battery which rises to 3,000 mAh.
As for internal components, the muscle of this device makes it 64-bit processor eight-core MediaTek MTK6753 1.5 GHz, equipped with the same processor as others devices like Meizu M2 Note or Elephone P8000. This CPU is accompanied by a GPU ARM Mali-720 MP3 450Mhz and 3 GB of RAM.
Although these specifications seem enough to get the mobile settle in the upper mid-range table, perhaps one of their drawbacks is found in his conformist commitment to the 16 GB of internal storage , of which only 11GB will be free for our use and enjoyment. Fortunately for us, a microSD card can help us expand this memory up to 64 additional GB.
The specification table close them good connectivity settings, a promising cameras 13 and 5 megapixel and the Android 5.1 operating system, which even one of the latest versions only time will tell if Zopo keeps the line when it comes to upgrade to the later they come out.
Current Design, although without fanfare
Every time extending further time in which Chinese manufacturers were limited to launch mobile clonic with finishes of dubious quality. This is not to say that the design of this phone is not like the others like LG G4, but at least is able to keep the guy finish the device despite being full of plásico .
The feeling passed when we have in hand is good. Maybe it’s a little heavy, but it conveys the feeling to be a solid and with good manufacturing mobile. At the back we find a plastic lid slightly textured with a few horizontal lines that give it a look similar to the ivory, and the sides there are plastic frames, yes, but with some details not too bright silver that mimic well to metal. Certainly better than the Samsung a couple of years ago.

|Dimensions||153.6 x 76.5 x 8.8 mm||147.3 x 75 x 10.9 mm||149.9 x 74.7 x 7.6 mm||152.7 x 75.14 x 7.4 mm||151.8 x 74.9 x 9, 85 mm|
|Weight||164 grams||169 grams||149 grams||141 grams||175 grams|
|Screen size||5.5 inches||5.5 inch||5.5 inches||5.5 inches||5.5 inches|
A mobile 5.5-inch is almost a guarantee that it will be difficult to handle with one hand, and Zopo has done little to try to fit their frames . The result is a device that pulls a finger up my old LG G3, and as shown in the table above, is also the largest mobile 5.5-inch with which we have compared.
There is one detail that makes me quite grace and I can not fail to mention. On the website take chest saying that mobile has almost no side frames , and it seems when we have off. But when we turn it on we see a fairly substantial black margins and the effect is spoiled.
As the state of the physical components at the top of the right edge we find the volume buttons and the power button. The audio jack is located on the upper part, while in the rear stands a small camera and LED flash beneath it. At the top of the front we find the earpiece, ambient light sensor and camera for selfies.
On this arrangement of elements only thing that I can not fault is the volume buttons. I think are too high on the side frame , and that makes that you can not reach them with your thumb intuitively, or at least a less intuitive way as in most smartphones.
A screen in the middle
For Zopo have chosen to equip this phone with a screen 5.5 inches with a resolution Full HD . I am not fond of the screens of this size, because by using the phone with one hand I is extremely difficult to reach the top and bottom of the left side of the device. But as to the resolution I have no complaints, as I believe that 1080p is more than enough for any mobile, and in my opinion go there it’s a waste of battery.
Perhaps the biggest surprise to me I have taken the time to test mobile is the screen performance at full sunlight . No longer it is seen much worse with direct light in a dark shadow or, but after trying a few mid-range in which virtually nothing is seen when used on a sunny day, the fact that you see more however little is already remarkable.
But in general terms it is more of the same, good visibility in low light and poor very , and while the “bad very” is above average, in light of what we offer screens of the best examples of high-end is still years away.
As for the extras, one of the ones I liked was the smart unlock screen. With it we can draw some letters on the screen off to launch specific applications. Thus, when turned off will draw an M to launch the music application or C to launch the camera. Nothing that have no other phones but it is still a practical added.
Clean Software without many additives
The days when manufacturers like Zopo new outfitting their phones quite outdated versions of Android have finally begun to come to an end. Another thing is that the upgrade to Android Mobile 6, which we’ll see, but I was very pleasantly surprised already come with Android 5.1 that even my staff LG G3 yet implemented.
In addition, the operating system is very clean and without excessive layers of customization , which those who are a little more picky purists or appreciate. There are little things that do change, but they are barely perceptible beyond the extra items in the slider panel, the way to manage the desktop or a couple of extra options.
Perhaps the difference in the Zopo out that most affected his Speed 7 Plus is to be chosen using your own set of icons . It is true that with the handful of own applications that come preinstalled and aesthetic looks good, but gives the rest of icons transparent framework that effect is pretty bad.
As for other extras implemented, and we talked about the Smart Wake function based applications to run directly off of the screen. But we also found a curious gesture sensor that can be very useful if you want perform some actions without touching the screen when we stained hands.
The action is actually always the same: moving the hand from left to right front facing camera. But we can enable it for some different applications, so that we can take pictures, browse the photo gallery, change songs or use the alarm clock without touching mobile screen.
Another option I Zopo liked that also incorporate is the ability to schedule times on and off the mobile . As for those who resort to airplane mode in my case is not something that you have taken a special performance, but if you are of those who would like to switch off the mobile at night, sure you will like not having to Acordaros to do this or have it always on for the time when you wake.
Performance and autonomy
In one of the times when I tested it using MediaTek mobile processor differences in performance compared with those using Snapdragon have always been too important. Especially when it comes to demanding a bit more playing a game or trying to use the phone while a couple dozen application updates are performed.
This is not new, and is a trend that has meant that despite how much MediaTek is striving to improve performance, the ordinary mortals and follow them wary of associating with a low yield. This was precisely the aspect that has surprised me most mobile because its processor MediaTek has gone much better than the Snapdragon 6XX many other midrange I’ve had in recent times.
The smartphone is like a shot from the first minute , and contrary to what is usually seen in mid-range devices, have not experienced any court or noticeable slowdown when LaGeo I have used it while all apps or when I have been playing some of the most demanding games in the catalog of Android were updated.

|3.0 GFXBench Manhattan||4.4||5.9||4.7||6||15|
|GFXBench 3.0 T-Rex||13||15||26||15||45|
Even so, banks are still giving us a test dose of reality, and show us some numbers are still far from those obtained by moving top range as 2 to OnePlus Meizu MX5, but yes it is up to others like the Moto X Play and Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3. But beyond the numbers is the experience, and as I said here’s the Speed 7 Plus was surprisingly good.
In terms of autonomy, once again we find the dilemma of what resolution would have been better to Mobile. 720p had stretched further its 3,000 mAh, but perhaps at the cost of a density of 5.5 inches if he had noticed. In addition, we must also give thanks that they have not wanted to stick a 2K would have devoured the battery unnecessarily. So I think to use Full HD has been a wise decision that focuses on balance .
And how this decision has resulted in terms of autonomy? As the use of mobile normal or moderately reading social networks, texting and spending some minutes playing, battery has endured trouble me until the end of the day with a time display that has haunted the four and half hours. Indeed, lest ye may have to settle for a personal opinion I used the Banchmark battery PCMark, with a score of 5 hours of battery life.
Of course, if you are of those spend the day playing and demanding the maximum processor of the mobile is quite possible that in three or four hours and ye struck its 3,000 mAh, which certainly is not bad. As is evident, the functions of actions which we have spoken as Smart Wake or sensor gestures also penalize the battery, and that will make some of the sensors of the device are always working.
The Camera is another of his surprises
When it comes to mid-range phones, and even some of the lowest High-end, the common denominator is usually to equip cameras that take excellent pictures during the day but that their quality falls apart when the sun goes down. Well to my surprise, the camera of this mobile has defended somewhat better than I expected.
Yes, when we zoom into the images we see the limits of the camera phone with the appearance of noise and especially the loss of details . And yes, at night the performance is also well below the day we offer. But given the results that they would shoot moving higher prices not ashamed to say that the results have surprised me favorably.
Of course, this is a personal perception based on my low expectations that may not have anything to do with what you expect mobile. So here’s A small gallery of photos I’ve taken with it so that you can judge for yourselves.
As the software of the camera, this is fairly straightforward, and although at first glance it seems that only has an automatic mode, if we navigate among options we find scene modes, white balance, exposure, mode facial beauty improve our selfies or different image property options with which to improve our catches.
put some sticks to a fairly complete as the camera application, I found it particularly annoying is that every time I walk into the camera after turning the mobile me use the basic tutorial always appears. Please think to teach me once that’s enough.
The opinion of Engadget Android
Zopo is still a fairly unknown brand, and that’s a handicap with which it will have to keep charging for at least a couple of years. But getting adequate progress , and Speed 7 Plus not only has nothing to envy to the proposals of other producers as BQ, Wiko and ZTE, but in many ways able to surpass some of his last proposals.
This mobile has a stunning performance in the few days that we’ve tried has not given us problems LAGEOS and we have found a lot more resultona camera than you would expect in your range. If Zopo continue the good work it is possible that in a few years to get made a good name between mobile users low prices.
