Lists and compilations of summary of the year proliferate much these days, and the case of the apps to the mobile could not be less. We know who are the kings in this dance: Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram govern our smartphones and are difficult to dethroning in the battle of the most downloaded apps and of the most commonly used. But there is life beyond: neither of these giants is among the mobile apps that have grown in 2019. The favourite five of the spaniards have been Vinted (fashion), Lidl Plus (retail), Too Good To Go (restaurant and delivery), Radios Spain (press and radio) and Moovit (transport), according to an index developed by Smartme Analytics with the use of Technology Observational. To obtain these data, the study has analyzed more than 20,000 applications for finance, games, fashion, newspapers and radio, restaurants, and delivery, retail, social media, telco, transportation, tv and film, and travel; recording the use of any of these in a representative sample of the Spanish population, consisting of more than 30,000 users. For its part, the hardest hit this year have been Briefing/Flipboard (press and radio), Movistar+ (tv and cinema), Privalia (fashion), MiTele (tv and film) and Romwe (fashion), who are leading the Top 5 of the apps that have decreased this year. The report confirms that applications “with an innovative business model” as Vinted, Too Good to Go, Moovit or Revolut are the most important to users, because they have attained the top positions of the ranking of each one of their sectors, demonstrating a “change in the needs of consumers.”
