The main novelty of Huawei P9 is its dual rear camera. Worth? While working on our full analysis, here are our first impressions.
We have two days testing the new and impressive Huawei P9, the new leader of Huawei smartphone . The Huawei P9 Plus will have to wait. When we try it for longer and issue a full analysis of P9 Huawei to expand our comments, but our first impressions are mixed.
Let’s start with the inner workings, the terminal frankly flies. As you would expect from any top-end Android for years. Kirin improved 955-leaving behind 930 and 950 of the P8 and Mate 8 respectively and 3GB of RAM. Although Huawei made no mention of the software throughout the presentation, the terminal is EMUI 4.0. The same software that we can find in the Huawei Mate 8 , with its advantages and disadvantages, but at least is based Android M. Something that not many manufacturers can say even today, to lament their users. Nothing remarkable in this respect.
A extra level of hardware we find a screen 5.2-inch 1080p resolution, 32GB of storage as the only option to choose. MicroSD card comes with dual SIM card capacity and is available in 8 different finishes, both metallic and ceramic. Our unit is a Mystic Silver, bombastic name for a white and silver phone.
But let’s talk about the most interesting, and what Huawei spent 90% of the world presentation yesterday in London. included Superman.
If you are a layman photography is possible that Leica not you sound. But German camera company has an almost mystical status among fans. The consensus is that their cameras are great, but very expensive. And with special attention to design.
The two cameras provide high performance in any environment and situation. It remains to be thoroughly compare with other big competitors like the Galaxy S7
Huawei have jointly created and Leica lens system and sensors that form the three chambers of Huawei P9. I say three because the main novelty is which has two cameras on the back, why? Simple .
Both cameras are 12-megapixel , a capture images in color (RGB) and the sensor of the other chamber does in black and white. So, Huawei achieved the latter sensor capture much more light and have more information from the scene, especially in contrast and definition. Huawei says it captures 90% more light than the Galaxy S7, and even much more than an iPhone 6s Plus. We can check with the final analysis, but the camera aims high , especially in photography. Video, so far, not so much. Has no recording 4K and found some glitches when recording video. It may be our test unit, so the video will have to wait for the full review.
Photos taken with monochrome sensor are especially showy , with a great result in almost all of them. This mode stands out above the rest, and in my opinion the prize to the novelty of the device. A large sensor taking great pictures
The other big advantage of having two separate chambers is power better measure the depth of field in the photograph taken . If traditional and active the depth of field button on the camera application mode, you can control shots -and always slightly software- depth of field of the image. a curious effect is achieved, but it is easy for the focus is very forced and artificial.
The focus, both in quality and speed also improved over previous versions, but during our first day of play with the camera, I must say that impressions are mixed.
So that you can see for yourselves, here are several photographs taken with Huawei P9 in London. You can click to see them in original size.
