James Van Der Beek will be the showrunner of his upcoming series, the first of Viceland

Van Der Beek Diplo

Much time has passed already since James Van Der Beek jumped to the fame thanks to ‘Dawson grows’. After that his career never lived up to the hype, falling clearly behind several of his co-stars -Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams-but has worked almost nonstop since then, and the news now is not so much that would go on to star in a new series, the first of Viceland, as also going to be your showrunner.

The series has the working title of ‘What Would Diplo Do?’ and has been defined as a mix between ‘Louie’, WorldStar HipHop and the mockumentary ‘This Is Spinal Tap’. In it, Van Der Beek will give life to a version partially of the Dj Diplo in a series of parables about life, told through the eyes of someone who can make 60,000 people worship him during one of their sessions, but in the face-to-face is a complete disaster.

As I have already mentioned, the series is also the first own production of Viceland, a company co-chaired by Spike Jonze, director of tapes as the ‘Her’ or ‘being John Malkovich’, which is the result of an alliance between Vice Media and A+E Networks. By now you will have a season of 6 episodes that we should be able to see at a date yet to be determined, 2017.

PD: The video is a little over the top, made to promote a concert by Diplo, is the origin of the project.
