- experts warn that up to 29% of young people and adolescents, claiming to have suffered some type of control abusive by their partners.
- The company’s cybersecurity ESET qualify of gender-based violence acts as the surveillance of the publications, the new friends or the chats of the partner.
- ESET has reported that the control of the pictures of the woman can also be considered as gender-based violence on the internet.
watch the mobile or computer of the partner or require this to activate the geolocation of your device to know where it is located are two of the forms of gender-based violence more common on the Internet. These and other practices have been rated as “not permissible in a dating relationship healthy” by the company of cybersecurity, ESET, coinciding with the celebration, this Saturday, the International Day against Gender Violence.
“Up to 29% of young people and adolescents, claiming to have suffered some type of control abusive by their partners”, has been recalled by the responsible Awareness of ESET Spain, Josep Albors, in a company release. It is for this reason that ESET also has defined this type of behavior on the Internet as “gender based violence”, including the surveillance of publications, new friends, and chats of the couple, and the interference in their relationships in the Internet with other people.
on the other hand, ESET has reported that the control of the pictures of the woman can also be considered as gender-based violence on the internet. The censorship of the photos that you share the couple on the social networks would fall in this term, as well as the obligation to send images intimate.
“it Is unacceptable that a third of those under 29 years of age consider inevitable or acceptable behaviors of control over their partners”, has regretted Albors. In this sense, ESET has also warned women that if their partners get annoyed when they do not respond immediately to your messages or ask them for their passwords for services ‘online’ and social networks, are faced with control cases abusive, and thus, of gender-based violence.
As has been highlighted, ESET, Internet and social networks are places where women and marginalized groups can exercise their right to freedom of expression. It is for this reason that Josep Albors has stated that violence and control against women “are a direct threat to this freedom of expression and to your personal development.”
One of every five Spanish women has experienced abuse or harassment in the internet at least once, according to the alert, a study carried out by Amnesty International cited by the company Slovak. The statistic climbs to one in three when it comes to receive threats, physical or sexual, which represents a loss of self-esteem and confidence for at least half of Spanish women affected.
