Madrid, April 6. –
This well-established video-game festival – the largest in Europe – will return to Bilbao from 24 to 28 November. The festival has confirmed that the Guest Country on this occasion will be the United Kingdom.
The Fun & Serious Game Festival will culminate with the traditional Prize-Giving Gala at the Guggenheim Museum featuring the attendance of leading international figures from the videogame world to receive their Titanium Awards within the different industry categories. Various important figures have already taken part in the festival, including different creators responsible for some of the leading video games in history, such as Tetris, Angry Birds, Assassin’s Creed, Candy Crush and Monkey Island.
The festival has become an important meeting-point for the industry, based on the clear intention of raising videogames to the status of an art, in the same way as has happened with film and music.
The Games Industry Forum (GIF) is a new feature at this edition that seeks to showcase all members of the industry through a series of roundtables, talks and meetings, creating an opportunity for synergies to be established amongst them. Publishers, developers, investors, venture partners and all kinds of participants in the industry will come together at the GIF with a view to generating business and positive links in the sector. At previous editions, more than 1,000 companies connected to the industry of videogames and digital leisure from all over the world have taken part at the festival.
Also present in former editions, the VIT talks will take place on the festival, featuring experts on videogames, innovation and trends. This year, a number of key issues will play a key role, such as Virtual Reality, Big Data, new wearables and the latest technological trends.
The Fun Zone will be the bigger area on the festival, the ideal place for visitors to see, touch and play the latest new developments. This area will be complemented by the Fun Zone Academy, a forum for all members of the public that will offer a series of interesting talks and workshops on the videogame world. There will also be an extensive area set aside for e-Sports, including two auditoriums where some of the most prestigious pro-gamer teams in will compete, and attendants will also be able to take part in different tournaments.
