We were able to experience first hand the most controversial ever released SoC Qualcomm, Snapdragon 810, and give you our first impressions.
It is impossible to speak of Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 without regard to the controversy created by statements from Samsung in ensuring that the SoC Californians overheats. Qualcomm followed the guidelines of the latest SoC launched in recent years. Designed with a CPU 4 + 4 Big.little , ie four Cortex A57 for tasks that require high power performance and four Cortex A53 for tasks that do not require much power, offering lower consumption.

BaseMark usually one of my benchmark reference. But when testing prototype tablet Snapdragon observed 810 very mixed results . The performance of GPU is currently one of the key points performance of a SoC, especially if we consider the trend to include larger and larger resolutions. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 first introduced the Adreno 430, the latest iteration of the great family of graphics chips Qualcomm Adreno 400.
According to the representative of Qualcomm in the previous talk, this new GPU has a yield 30% higher than the Adreno 420 keeping the clock speed of 600 Mghz. They could not give more details about the architecture or other details of the graphics chip. But thanks to the benchmarks we know and quantify the improvement in the latter model, especially architecture.

Possible overheating and Thermal Trottling
This is the aspect most talked from Qualcomm announced that a large manufacturer would cease to be his client and Samsung Exynos announced its range 7 to 14nm manufacturing process. Samsung was the first to announce that 810 Snapdragon got very hot.

The results speak for themselves . But keep in mind that it was a test prototype, had already implemented many benchmarks and the screen was 4K. Still no appreciable thermal trottling. The prototype had a case quite thick aluminum, so I do not have much hope that is resolved in the implementation of smartphones to install it.
Much less is a final judgment, would have to run tests Thermometer with a device in production and LG G2 Flex. But there are indications that the problem can be reported Samsung real
There are several blogs that have indicated that the Snapdragon 810 is heated less than the 801 using a graph Qualcomm itself gave us the first day in their offices. I do not think it’s a clear objective evidence of reality , even when temperature may be maintained with a drastic reduction in clock speed of the CPU.

From what little I could test the SoC not gave off one Skin Device excessive temperature, but can be due to thermal trottling, something I have to prove in a controlled several days on a device distribution environment.
The CPU performance is within expectations with 4 cores A57 at that speed, even if some somewhat strange result, which may be due to the benchmarks or the Android version. Performance is more than adequate and I think Qualcomm has managed to maximize it without compromising the energy efficiency of your chip and implementation Big.little.
In GPU, the Adreno 430 performs very well, just what we would expect , and has even exceeded my expectations in several benchmarks. Still, I crave something ridiculous that Qualcomm persists in testing their SoC with a 4K display when the GPU Adreno 430 GPU like other mobile market is far from providing an adequate return to that resolution .
We have to wait until we can prove the first devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, with the Exynos range 7 and compared with the current leader, the A8 / X from Apple. I believe that Qualcomm has to show that its SoC is competent, which had been undisputed until very recently being industry leader to onset of A7 and A8 of the latter and controversial Apple launch its new architecture with Snapdragon 810.
Qualcomm’s leadership is not only CPU and GPU, competition is far from being able to offer all the features of your modem , but if True, the Snapdragon 810 gives performance issues will be a major stumbling block for Android flagships first half of the year
