Main representatives of Christianity

Christianity, by number of followers, is one of the great religions of the world and, along with Islam and Judaism, makes up the three main monotheistic religions. Throughout its history Christianity has had several schisms and divisions, to the point that in the current there are many Christian currents, the best known being Protestantism, the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church of Rome.


The 12 apostles and the closest ones

By far, the main representative of Christianity is Jesus of Nazareth, called the Christ and the Son of God. In fact, Christianity is based on the teachings that Jesus in public form.

Paul of Tarsus follows him, for his enormous work of spreading Christianity to the Gentile world, mainly in Rome.

After that we have Peter, also known as Saint Peter or Simon Peter, and he is presented as the disciple “rock”, the foundation of the Church, and reputed as the first pontiff of the Catholic Church.

Thus, we have the disciple John, also known as Saint John or John the Apostle, and he is presented as the beloved disciple of Jesus, one of the twelve.

Mary, the mother of Jesus. It has been elevated to a preeminent place and venerated as a virgin and as the mother of God.

Apart from them we also have the rest of the apostles, the four evangelists (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), as well as the different fathers of the Church, like Irenaeus, St. Augustine, Chrysostom and Eusebius of Caesarea, among others.
