Samsung augmented reality takes the Prado to give us photos with pictures

English - July 10, 2015

A very touristy souvenir the addition of many trying to sell souvenirs to the exit, take a picture museums is some of the most famous paintings. The problem is that not all leave us and we can also annoy more people. Samsung and Prado have reached a technological solution that we did not go without our picture.

The name Photo Prado, we augmented reality application that allows us to get photos with virtual copies of the pictures. Thanks to a trust mark on the wall, we can put augmented reality fifty versions of well-known works of the most historic museum in Madrid

Works of art increased

The application, available in Google Play Store and Samsung Apps, allowing us to get photos with the difference that, in this case, is able to recognize a brand (a cut of the box “The gentleman with his hand on his chest”) and superimpose a virtual copy of one of the fifty paintings on display in the Prado.

To use it, the museum has set up a series of blank walls with the brand in question and so that we can take a picture with the other visitors. In addition, it has been enabled WiFi network so we can download the application without having to consume data. Something that is appreciated because the app is a little heavy.

It works well, is simple but (obviously) its use is limited to visitors del Prado. It would be interesting to see in other museums, with their respective works, but there are no plans to see other galleries. In fact, it is not the first time this museum and Samsung collaborate.
