According to The Guinness Book of Records, it measures 7.5 cm. The general average of an adult person is 3.5 cm.

 

This phenomenon is commonly known as “congenital macroglossia” which is the increase in size, but when it increases, it is caused by an external inflammation known as false macroglossia. This pathology is associated with problems of gigantism, diabetes and some metabolic disorders.

 

Initially, macroglossia has been described for the first time in the second century. It is known by medical records that in the year 1658, surgery was carried out to eradicate the macroglossia, but this time it was by mercury poisoning.

 

In some cases, problems may occur to articulate some words or to digest some foods. But in the case of Annika Irmler, this does not seem to affect her life, since almost all her friends and acquaintances know her and she is popular in her hometown, because it is all a phenomenon thanks to the evident length of her language.
