In this original story we are captivated by Ralph Fiennes, Nicholas Hoult, and Anya Taylor-Joy. While watching you should probably skip the food with this one.
The Menu will serve you a dish that you will not forget soon. The newest movie from the cuisine, and we mean quite literally cuisine, of Ralph Fiennes, will bring you a horror in which the suspense will almost kill you. The movie legend is backed by Nicholas Hoult and Anya Taylor-Joy in this nail-biting creation. Hoult delivered a performance of the highest standard, and Anya is intoxicating. Interestingly she was not the first choice for the role. Emma Stone was the pick for the actress, but she couldn’t move her busy schedule for this one and luckily Anya stepped in. We say luckily as we can’t imagine anyone else in this role after watching the movie and her big eyes which are so captivating.
Who Directed the Movie?
The amazing cast is directed by Mark Mylod whom you might remember from the episodes of Succession and Game of Thrones. His colleague from Succession Will Tracy worked on the script, so our best bet is that they passed on the amazing collaboration on this project. If you are looking for some bets of your own, check this link. Filming was performed in Georgia and the scenery looks breathtaking. The story is original and it takes you on a rollercoaster, as you will find yourself laughing at the satirical comedy of the movie and gasping at the suspenseful and cringe moments.
The Story of “The Menu”
The movie begins with a young couple (Hoult and Taylor-Joy) awaiting the boat on the pier. They are clearly in some type of relationship and are on some sort of date. Hoult is overjoyed to take her with him on this trip – a dinner in an exclusive location with the famous and renowned chef Slowik (Fiennes). Fiennes delivers a role similar to the one he played in Red Dragon, but very different than his latest roles, like for example the M from the newest Bond movies. Other guests are coming, and it seems they are the lucky couple few who are allowed to go on this pricey dinner. Other stories unfold, but the real chills are coming as they arrive on the reclusive island. The role of awkward and cold hostess Else which was played phenomenally is where you get the feeling something is not right.
Dinner at Chef’s Slowik Island
After the short tour around the island, the guests are welcomed to the dining hall, where everything is carefully planned and executed. With surgical precision and almost religion-like adoration from the staff, chef Slowik enters the scene. The first impression you get is that all geniuses are crazy and disturbing to other people. Some of the guests are not impressed while others are left in adoration of the chef, most of all Hoult. While the story unfolds you are realizing that nothing is random, everything is set for something big and dark and most of them will not like it.

One of the movies among the recent releases shows us that you don’t need to have superheroes or CGI to have a really good time watching it.
