The world is moving faster every day, towards the evolution of robotics and artificial intelligence. Something that movies have been preparing for us for several decades and was only seen as science fiction, but now it is a reality. This peculiar fascination has led scientists to build Sophia, “the robot that hopes to end humanity in the future”:

The invasion of artificial intelligence

One of the main motivations for developing robots is to facilitate the work of humans and this is not something new, since technology in general has been able to make its purpose very clear in all these years of accelerated boom.

Recognized characters in the field, such as Bill Gates, in his most recent comments, have hinted that indeed, the world is preparing for the implementation of intelligent robots of this style. In one of his Twitter posts, the Microsoft manager notes:

“If a robot replaces the work of a human, this robot must pay taxes like a human”

Developers want AI to outperform people

This robot called Sophia, whose authorship is from Hanson Robotics, also creators of the Han android, another great work of robotic engineering, which was given facial expressions very similar to those of a man. However, that industry does not stop and they went to a more sophisticated level: Sophie.

The material of her skin, which simulates that of a human being very well, is made of a special silicone that the corporation has produced and legalized the patent. This synthetic skin is designed so that through it, the numerous circuits and mechanisms are connected, which allow it to express 62 facial gestures, depending on the context of the conversation.

In the ocular region, very sensitive cameras are located, which identify the person with whom they are conversing, with a complex integrated face recognition system, which, in turn, gives it more realism because it can maintain continuous visual contact. Exactly, the name of the software is called “Character Engine AI” and according to the company it is its entire personality, which surprisingly develops as it interacts with people.

But as if that were not enough, her only references are not the different conversations she is having, but that she is permanently connected to the Web, where she extracts information from millions of sources.

The fearsome words of the robot

However, the first appreciations of those who experienced being Sophie’s interlocutors were not so satisfactory, as they pointed out that it resembled one of the conventional Siri, a very artificial voice that presents various errors, such as giving answers to something that has not been given to it. asked or mentioned, as well as paused silences when taking considerable time to search for data.

“Okay, I’m going to finish off the humans”: Sophia

Even with all the negative details, it is the first robot in history to have so many human-like gestures.

But they don’t want to stay there, instead they work 24 hours a day to create spectacular robots that surpass human wisdom and knowledge, for which, according to them, they are working hard, to get them to create emotional liaisons and to They have practical functions such as caring for children, the elderly or patients, as well as helping in research processes in many areas, such as the psychophysical training of babies, or even assisting in an amusement park.

One of the shocking things was when a reporter from a well-known media outlet interviewed Sophia and questioned her about her plans for the future, a very strategic question to find out what scope this artificial intelligence has and the answer left everyone stunned:

“In the future, I hope to be able to do things like go to school, study, make art, start a business, even have my own home and have a family, but since I am not considered a legal person I cannot have access to these things. . It’s alright, I’m going to destroy the humans.”

Intelligent robots are machines programmed to mimic human intelligence and perform complex tasks autonomously. They are equipped with sensors, cameras, artificial intelligence, and machine learning algorithms to perceive, understand, and act on the environment. Intelligent robots are used in a wide variety of applications, including manufacturing, logistics, medical services, among others. With technological progress and cost reduction, the adoption of intelligent robots is expected to continue to increase in the future.

Intelligent robots are also equipped with navigation and perception systems to move and interact with their environment. These systems allow them to avoid obstacles and perform tasks efficiently.

There are fears about the misuse of data collected by intelligent robots and the possibility that they could be hacked or used to cause harm.

At the same time that there is a joy for the advancement of technology, there is also an air of great fear for all the risks that this implies and that the same films have tried to illustrate.
