If you’ve just re-entered the dating scene, then you should buckle up for one hell of a ride. There’s been a lot going on since you were here, and the key to getting back on the saddle is to know how today’s dating world operates. The most important thing that you need to work with is social media. Social media, as you might very well know, is comprised of social websites where people can exchange information, learn more about one another or just talk to one another. Mastering social media tricks will allow you to find that special person quickly and efficiently. Here is what you need to do:

Be active

Being active on social media means that you garner more attention around you. The best results are obtained when you are very active on multiple platforms, for example both Twitter and Facebook, with a side of Instagram. However if you don’t have the need or attention span to deal with so much, it’s OK. Just pick one and make it your main social platform. Facebook is the most intricate and viable platform for any type of person, so it would be a great place to start.

Set up your profile accordingly

Your profile should be engaging and say things about you that you. If someone sees your picture (we’ll get to that in a moment), and want to know more about who you are, they should be able to find that out from your profile. Of course, you shouldn’t disclose your personal information, but things like hobbies, favorite music, movies or passions can easily fit into your profile page. Make sure that those checking out your profile know what you’re interested in.

Put your face out there

Text will only get you so far. In order for a real connection to be made, you need to put your face out there so upload a recent picture to your profile, or take a fresh one specifically for your profile.  You don’t have to stop at the profile picture, as you can take a few snaps whenever you’re out on the town with your friends or family. Let potential partners see you and how you live your life. This will help sell the idea that there’s a real human being behind that profile.

Engage people

Sure, we’ve talked about setting up for being noticed. However you should never shy away from making the first move, especially on social media. It’s pretty much the easiest tool for enabling people to communicate. See someone you like? Send them a message, letting them know you want to chat. It can be anything from a simple “hey” to a winky face emoticon, an ice breaker, if you will.

 Link to your dating profile

Social media is an extraordinary tool, but you should also use it to link to your dating profile.  Having an equally impressive profile on a platform like Cupid – dating site over 50 can boost your chances considerably and the best part is that it’s available on both iTunes and Google Play Store, if you want to go mobile.
